Zelik Rifkin a strom snů
The American author Steve Stern is considered by critics to be a master of the modern Jewish short story, a writer who is able to convey the Jewish tradition and the countless stories associated with it in an original way. He teaches literature at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs (New York). He does not hide the influence of Yiddish authors in his writing, and as a reader he admires Franz Kafka and through him Prague (where he briefly stayed). He has written several short story collections, as well as published children's books and three novels. His novel The Angel of Oblivion was rated one of the best American novels of 2005, and his short story collection The Wedding Jester won the National Jewish Book Award. Sefer Publishing now introduces Steve Stern to Czech readers for the first time. In a volume titled Zelik Rifkin and the Tree of Dreams, the author publishes five of his short stories, accompanied by an original afterword.
