Three short stories by Filip Topol from the 1980s. The autobiographical protagonist in Filip Topol's trio of short stories is a Klimovian hustler tormented by memories and phantoms that embody his triad of insistent passions: classical music, a femme fatale and a demon named Alcohol. In his attempts to resist their magical attacks, which mercilessly shatter the boundaries between reality and fiction, the protagonist achieves only apparent relief each time. The book is complemented by a later short story, The Lover's Notes.
