The Corsair writings and the Lutheran letters are the furious cry of a sad wounded soul. They are the expression of the dilemmas of a left-wing intellectual who still uses terminology taken from Marxist theory, even though he increasingly realizes that this terminology is inadequate in the face of the society of the second half of the 20th century - but refuses to realize that the most horrifying regime of the 20th century was built on this terminology, which brought innumerable times worse unfreedoms than the one he complains about.

Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975) has been known in the Czech environment mainly as an outstanding film director. However, the work of this very prolific author also includes novels, poetry, screenplays, short and short story films, plays, essays, translations and also occasional paintings. Almost thirty-six years after Pasolini's violent death, the author's best and most important work, apart from his film work, is considered to be his poetry and essays. Pasolini's poetics draws on a seemingly disparate combination of deep immersion in reality and advanced abstract thought; his main concern is man, his position in society, his values, appearance and behaviour, the place where he lives, the forces that shape him and the power that deforms him.
