In her last work, which was only published in book form by her estate, Hannah Arendt deals with the basic, non-transferable dimensions of the human mind or spirit: thinking, willing and judging. In the first volume, she situates thought in the space of human experience in order to show its singularity, and attempts to provide non-metaphysical answers to traditional metaphysical questions. Her reflection is a distinctive and penetrating dialogue with Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Heidegger and other figures of the philosophical tradition - but also a remarkable interpretation of texts by Franz Kafka and W. H. Auden.
