Torzo 1973-1989
The first independent book by photographer Ondřej Němec (*1960) brings together one hundred photographs that were taken mainly in the underground community in the 1970s and 1980s and also depict Prague at that time. The opus, from which the photographs come, has had a turbulent fate: in 2002 it was hit by a flood, most of the negatives were destroyed, those that remain bear permanent traces of the great water. However, the unfortunate circumstance also became a new compositional element that "completed" the images regardless of the photographer's will. "At least in terms of their fate, the works in this set are something that is probably unparalleled in Czech photography. A good work finished with great water," wrote Viktor Karlík. These photographs were first published in Revolver Revue No. 91/2013. The same year the author received the Revolver Revue Award for them.
