Pražská ekloga
The novel by the prominent poet, novelist and historian Jiří Kovtun (1927-2014) depicts five authentic days in May 1945. It is the end of the war and the fighting is beginning in Prague. The senseless warfare benefits no one, and death seems increasingly senseless. Comic and tragic episodes of modern history unfold around three students, Ludvík, Kamil and Artur. The author finds in the tense times signs of the later evil years.
