Paměti 1 - Za Rakouska (1879-1918)
The first volume of the three-volume Memoirs of František Weyr (1879-1951), professor of law and the first dean of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University, bears witness to the elements that made up the spiritual world of a Czech scholar at the beginning of the 20th century. Weyr tells about the family of his father, the mathematician Emil Weyr, and his mother, describes his childhood in Vienna, his studies of law at the University of Prague, the beginnings of his clerical career in Vienna, his work in the Provincial Statistical Office and at the Brno Technical University. In the last two chapters he describes life in Brno during the First World War and the 1918 coup.
