The book The Village by Miloš Doležal (1970) was first published in 1996 by the Brno publishing house Atlantis in a graphic design by Viktor Karlík. The present second edition is expanded with a second section containing poems from manuscripts, published for the first time. The poems in the first section are in a different order from the original edition. The form of the Atlantis series at the time did not allow the book to be accompanied by illustrations, so the complete set is only now included, although it was written in 1995. The author of this series of drawings is the poet's Highland companion, painter and sculptor Jiří Bašta. The Village was published in Poland in 2004 by Czarne (under the title Gmina, translated by Jerzy Kedzierski). Two extensive selections from the Village have been published abroad in magazine form, namely in the Greek journal Mπιλιέτο 3/2002 (translated by Karel Čížek) and in the French journal Po&sie 171/2022 (translated by Xavier Galmiche).
