After the novels Jakob von Gunten, The Tanner Siblings and The Helper from the early 1920s. In 1925, Robert Walser (1878-1956) wrote two more novels, the manuscripts of which are now lost, and finally his last novel, The Robber, in which he made himself into a kind of savage and robber by recalling Schiller's The Robbers and its performance in Biel around 1895, which had thrilled him as a young man, because that was how he had viewed himself and his whole life. The Robber will close the Opus edition of Walser's novels, for no more of his novels are known.
